Trainer Cody McArthur joined the Blackland Team in April of 2004.  He offers a full range of equine services ranging from training to instruction to sales.  Cody's expertise covers all aspects of Performance Horse Training - specializing in Cow Horses.  Cody teamed up with Blackland's stallion, Lil Retsina Peppy (aka Badger), to the 2004 ARCHA Open Working Cowhorse Championship.  In 2005, Cody will show Blackland's Gallo Con Estrellas (aka Rooster) in several different performance events.

Cody grew up in Turner Valley, Alberta, riding his English pony, Gladness, in Pony Club.  His intrigue with horses continued under the guidance of his granddad, Ken Stav, where he learned to start and work with colts.  Following graduation, Cody's sense of adventure took him overseas, when the first Quarter Horses were shipped to Norway.  He spent several months there instructing western riding techniques and galloping horses on the racetrack.  Then he returned to the USA and Canada to work with legendary horseman Les Timmons, Benny Guitron, Don Murphy, and John Roeser.

Cody can be reached at (403) 850-8842.  For Edmonton area residents, call 446-7626 (Edmonton Roamer), then 403-850-8842.  His email address is codeman4u76@aol.com

Greg Coffin
Assistant Trainer Greg Coffin, joined Cody McArthur Performance Horses in October 2004.  His colt-starting program focuses on "getting the horse broke" as he prepares them for their performance career.

Greg grew up around High River and learned his finesse around horses from his father Bill.  He began his professional training career at the age of 14 where he worked for Ron Echlin and Lindy Barron.  In 2002, Greg took a six-month sabbatical to work overseas for Euro-Disney where he rode and performed stunts at Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.  In 2004, Greg had an opportunity to train and show a "Snaffle Bitter" at the Canadian Snaffle Bit Futurity and got the bug.  Greg is looking forward to working with Cody for a successful 2005 show season.
